Product does not work. Do not buy
I’ve installed this style of door lock many time, but this brand’s version is utter garbage. They have to be positioned precisely and on the same plane to work (very few doors with trim are like this). I made a complete mess of the door and trim trying to get them to work.
They had me because they looked a little more fashionable than the normal style, but it wasn’t worth it. I’m getting the other kind and returning this junk.
This safety door latch is made of thick solid metal.
It all fits nicely together so slides as it should.
Very simple to install and does as advertises.
The door opened only to very end of slide and did stop solidly.
I took and moved door back and forth and it still would not allow door to open.
This is a good child safety latch as well as extra home security as you want to see whom is at door.
The cost verses quality verses safety is a plus and well worth it.
Solid security addition. Made of great materials. Easy to install in minutes.
Works well and easy to use and install on door. Very well made and sleek black design. A very secure lock.
I got this door lock to add an extra layer of safety at home, especially with little kids running around. It’s heavy-duty but not bulky, and the matte black finish looks really sleek on the door. The swing bar design makes it easy to lock and unlock without any fuss.
Installation was pretty simple, and it fits well on my door — just make sure to check your door’s thickness beforehand. I love that it gives peace of mind by reinforcing the door without being annoying to use daily. Definitely a solid pick if you want extra safety without sacrificing style.
It’s possible to get this to work a little. However with a minimum amount of effort, you can get this to slide open on a regular door. My doors are normal, but the ball does not extend towards the latch as far as it’s supposed to.
At first, I thought it was my lack of understanding, but even when I got it to work, my son just opened the door with it engaged. -10/10. It looks nice, but it’s totally useless.
I am very pleased with this door latch. It is solid and has a good weight, is well made, aesthetically pleasing, and looks the same as the photos in the listing. It is easy to install and took only a few minutes. It ties in beautifully with my black hammered metal door handle and the dead bolt as if it were a coordinated set. My reason for wanting this type of latch is to be able to open my door and talk to the visitor without my dogs getting through. I have two small dogs and with the door opened and the latch engaged, they haven't been able to interfere when a visitor arrives as was the case when the Fed Ex driver delivered a package and needed my signature. Normally I would hold the door open a few inches in a way that the dogs cannot push through and get out. My dogs are not vicious but rather overly friendly with visitors and I feel with this latch they are less likely to push through the door.
This works just right and is easy to open and close. I have a gate on my front porch and this is easy for delivery people to open and close this for access.
A chain or door bar like this is a huge addition to the security of your house. Being able to open the door without giving access to you or the house is not only much safer but gives you the confidence and peace of mind that nobody can break in (nearly as easily at the least no single measure is 100%) which is why you need to take all the precautions you can, get a peephole, a door bar or chain, and reinforced locks, strike plates, and hinges. Something like this makes you absolutely need to close the door fully to open it again, so even if someone was trying to get you to open the door voluntarily, you'd be able to get the door shut, and lock the other locks while it's fully closed by pretending you're about to take the bar off. So if you have small children that can open doors, or want extra protection against fraudulent or malicous mysteries at your door, this is the solution.
Very easy to install and has a nice matte black finish. No chips in the paint, no blemishes, no issues in functionality. So, it works well and matches the rest of the hardware in my home. All for a good price. I have nothing to gripe about with this. And suggest anyone who wants to feel extra safe invest in those above and beyond security measures, because it won't be above and beyond if it ever becomes useful or necessary. No such thing as too safe.
I have quite a few doors in my farmhouse that have tacky looking hook-and-eye closures. Short of replacing the doors, I wanted to try this out to see if it would be a nicer looking (and easier to manage) option. So far I'm very pleased. The metal is hefty, it is easy to install, and it works well. The door I'm using this on doesn't need a safety feature, so I'm not concerned about whether it will keep an intruder out, but it certainly keeps the dog where she needs to stay without having to mess around with a hook and eye. I especially like that it clicks in place at half and full open, so that it's less likely you'll get locked in or out of a room, porch, etc. because the hasp doesn't swing freely.
In order for this to properly work, you really need a completely flush door trim and frame. I had to use an oscillating tool to cut a little notch in my trim to put the flip handle into so it sat close enough to the door for the latch to work properly. The screws they include are very short and one little nudge into the door would probably rip them right out. I swapped at least two of them on each side for 3" screws since my door frames/walls are 6" thick. Now they should hold, they will rip the doorframe apart before this latch comes off. If they would have made it easier to install on more common door situations then that would give it a better rating. I have a feeling this product may see a lot of returns from folks not willing to make the modifications to their doors to get it to work.
